Dr. Robin H. Berrin
Robin H. Berrin is a “people person” who enjoys the personal side of meeting and helping his patients. He strives to understand each patient’s needs, desires and circumstances, and is proud to offer the latest innovative periodontal techniques for their care.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Berrin worked his way through the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with various jobs, including selling tickets at Dodger Stadium and as a dental assistant in the United States Air Force Reserve. He attended UCLA for both his undergraduate education and for this Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (1975). After practicing general dentistry for eight years, including teaching removable prosthodontics and operative dentistry at UCLA, he attended the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) (1983) for specialty training and certification in periodontology.
When Dr. Berrin joined Capitol Periodontal Group (CPG) in 1984, he brought a wealth of experience to the practice and he continues as the “senior partner”. He focuses on many areas of periodontology, including cosmetic periodontal plastic surgery, and both antibacterial and surgical approaches to treating infectious periodontitis. To stay current and at the forefront of periodontology’s rapidly changing science and techniques, he devotes numerous hours to continuing education and he is a member of a periodontist only study group in the SF Bay Area. Dr. Berrin and the other CPG doctors often consult with each other to ensure that their patients get the best diagnosis and treatment available.
Dr. Berrin is very committed to community involvement. He lectures at various schools and community groups, and teaches in the Hygiene Program at Sacramento City College. He sits on several dental society committees and is the chairman of the committee involved in placing pre-dental college students for internships in local dental offices. He enjoys mentoring students and each semester/quarter he accepts a student intern in the practice. He even invites children of his patients to visit the office if they are considering dentistry as a career.
Dr. Berrin is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology; the California Society of Periodontics, where he is a committee chairman; the American Dental Society; the California Dental Association; the Sacramento District Dental Society; the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology; and the American Association of Dental Consultants. Dr. Berrin supports the Coalition of Concerned Medical Professionals (CCMP), hosting volunteer clinics at CPG offices to treat very low-income patients, free of charge. He is also an insurance consultant and on the policy committee for a major insurance company.
Dr. Berrin has been married to Susanne Leitner, a dental hygienist, since 1978. They have been blessed with two children, Stanley and Lily, now adults. Dr. Berrin’s hobbies include sailing, hiking, walking, reading and traveling with his family.
