Sinus Augmentation

Sinus augmentation also known as a sinus lift is a procedure which aims to increase the amount of bone in the upper jaw in the area of the premolar and molar teeth by placing a bone graft in the sinus.

When a tooth is lost, the jaw bone begins to remodel. The vacant tooth socket collapses which causes a loss in both height and width of the surrounding bone increasing the size of the sinus. Overall, this leads to a loss in volume of bone that is available for placing an implant. The goal of the sinus augmentation/lift is to graft extra bone into the sinus, so more bone is available to support a dental implant.
